("The Politics of a Trump Indictment")
Damned if they do, so might as well leave bad enough alone.
If you can't beat 'em, turn the other cheek.
I cannot tell a lie, from the truth.
Mr. Douthat has suggested chasing after the perpetual transgression that is Donald Trump is likely but a fool's errand.
And maybe as to the the case of his giving Stormy Daniels a generous tip for what she called the worst 90 seconds of her life, it is. Maybe what doesn't kill Mr. Trump makes him stronger.
But my spidey sense is that this pie is already baked. Those that love this man not despite his indiscretions but because of them, do not need an indictment to stir their hatreds of those who would denigrate their idol.
And for the rest of humanity, trash in, trash out. Arrest or not, Donald Trump remains, now and forever, a toxic waste site.
So, Mr. Douthat, cease your ruminations, your contemplations, your examinations and anticipations. Mr. Bragg will or won't indict. And the world according to Trumpers won't change much either way.
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, but he was already cracked.
