One Character At A Time (A/K/A Wheel Of Fortune)

"I'd like to buy a vowel." Elon Musk just bought the whole alphabet.

Mr. Musk's universe of free expression a boundless receptacle for the most vile, damaging cesspool of thought.

Twitter has heretofore been predicated on its limited number of characters. Thanks to Mr. Musk's money, anyone will now be set free to say whatever happens to fall out of their brain.

One character at a time.

The true issue is 'content moderation' which simply means that if you have a megaphone you don't want foul language and cuss words yelled into it for all to hear. I hope that someone as rich as Elon Musk will understand that freedom of speech does NOT give a bigot, racist, anti-Semite or war criminal the right to use a private platform to spew forth venom. I am not sure that he understands or cares to understand this crucial differential. That said, Elon Musk or any other multi-billionaire is free to buy Twitter just as Jeff Bezos can buy the Washington Post and Rupert Murdoch can buy the Wall Street Journal. After all, we are a free nation and private property including journalistic tools are part of our great free enterprise system. I also have enough confidence in the public to abandon a platform like Twitter if it becomes another worthless and vacant tool of disinformation. Anyone remember 'Myspace' ?

Imagine what those billions might have done put to different/philanthropic use - like feeding the hungry, subsidizing housing, supporting medical research, addressing environmental issues, providing educational scholarships, etc, etc, etc…..
